Social anxiety disorders such as social phobia are among the most prevalent mental health issues in the country. An estimated 30 percent of adult Americans (approx. 66 million) suffer from an anxiety disorder at some point during their lives, but fewer than half use CBD therapy to treat it. However, for those that do, it is one of the most effective treatments available.

Medical researchers are still not completely clear on exactly what the mechanism behind the effects of CBD is in relieving anxiety. Many experts believe it works by blocking chemicals in a person’s brain called chemicals known as endocannabinoids that help regulate mood and anxiety. When these chemicals reach a certain threshold, a person experiences anxiety-like symptoms, including chest pains, increased heart rate, and racing pulse.

Clinical trials have proven that CBD helps alleviate social anxiety by blocking the effect of these chemicals. In fact, in a clinical trial involving 60 patients with mild to moderate social anxiety, CBD was found to be more effective than benzodiazepines or other medications for treating this condition. CBD was also found to be safer than benzodiazepines. In addition to this, the number of side effects that CBD has been shown to cause is minimal, as compared to other types of medication.

In some clinical trials, CBD has even helped treat other anxiety disorders. In a study conducted at the University of Geneva, CBD was used to reduce symptoms of panic disorders in patients who were unable to take medications to help them overcome the symptoms of depression. The results were very encouraging and showed that CBD was able to help treat both anxiety and depression. Another clinical trial involving two patients with obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and panic disorders also found that CBD helped treat these conditions in some patients.

Because of its effectiveness in clinical trials, CBD has been investigated further in many studies. There are still several other scientific studies ongoing to investigate the effects of CBD in treating social anxiety and other anxiety disorders, but currently CBD is one of the best ways to relieve anxiety and panic without drugs.

People with anxiety often feel overwhelmed by the fear of worrying about things like money, health, and finances. For them, worrying about all the little things that worry them the most can cause anxiety and stress, which lead to bouts of severe anxiety and panic. In some cases, a person with anxiety may actually start to sweat excessively, experience hot flashes, feel like they’re having a heart attack, feel nauseous, feel as if they’re going to faint, and pass out, or experience a feeling of detachment from their bodies. CBD is an effective solution for people suffering from these symptoms, because it prevents the chemicals that cause the anxious feelings from reaching their brains.

This means that instead of being flooded with anxious feelings, a person’s brain only receives CBD, which blocks the effect of the chemicals that cause the symptoms from reaching their brain. In most cases, these chemicals are already present in a person’s brain due to the use of cannabis, but when they enter the body they block out CBD, preventing anxiety and panic from getting worse. This then makes them feel calmer and can reduce the likelihood of experiencing further anxiety attacks or panic attacks.

As you can see, CBD is proving to be an effective solution to many of today’s problems, including anxiety disorders. For sufferers of social phobia, CBD could prove to be the easiest and most affordable way to treat the anxiety that has been plaguing them.
